Republicans v secular America | Dan Kennedy | guardian.co.uk

In case you've forgotten, the Republican Party is jammed packed with people who want to become president and turn this nation into a hate-filled bigoted theocracy.

Remember that the next time you are at the polling booth.

Tax Status Of Lawmakers' Religious Refuge Disputed : NPR

Some sensible men of faith find it repulsive that the C Street House O' Cheating Politicians has tax exempt status and want it revoked.

I agree with that of course. That said, what I really agree with is revoking the tax exempt status from every church that has given out conservative biased "voting guides" in recent elections. What I really would like to see is every church that has had a sermon on praying for Obama's death, or an illness to take him or another Democrat out, or to hope for a "miraculous" violent overthrow/theocracy/reset the time continuum/etc. to ALSO lose their tax exempt status.

Basically, I have never heard any violence, death, or harm wished a Republican from a pulpit, but apparently the reverse is all the rage. I have heard calls for prayers for Bush, curses on Catholics, and the point that my dog is going to Hell for having a microchip in my mom's Baptist church - which is why I'm never stepping foot back in that building, but no, I don't see liberal religious types being so damned mean.

So, in short, OF COURSE the C Street Commitment-Breakers should lose any privilege they have to violate federal law. But for every church that has screeched their congregations to vote GOP (or otherwise if you've seen any proof of that) I would argue that they should pay taxes for the next 20 years. If they keep their noses clean - if they can truly be pious - then they can get it back (if society still buys their argument).

Otherwise, there should be a price for preaching politics from the pulpit. There should also be a price for preaching hate, fear, bigotry, and racism from the pulpit, but I believe that God can handle that one better than man.

A couple of my personal beefs with Rethugs are their twisting of our nation's history as well as their insatiable need to teach our children outright lies. Here is yet another look at the rabid Talibangelical bastards trying to dumb down our nation's textbooks.

Look, if you want to believe that Sarah Palin is a genius, the earth is only 6,000 year old and that abstinence only sex ed doesn't lead to a rash (pun intended) of anal sex incidents, go for it. But don't do it with my public tax dollars and don't try to treat science as some form of archaic alchemy that doesn't belong in a school curriculum.

Get bent, go home, go be Luddites somewhere way the hell away from the public sector. Our nation deserves better.

Also, just as some enlightenment on the thoughts of our Founding Fathers as it comes to organized religion. You know, just to add some context.

"Lighthouses are more useful than churches." - Benjamin Franklin

"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion it it." - John Adams

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." - Thomas Jefferson

Baptist Pastors to Pray for Barack Obama's Death on Presidents Day.

By John on February 17, 2010 11:13 AM | No Comments

Everything you need to know about why I loathe a lot of conservatives as well as why I avoid religious institutions whenever I can are rolled up in this Pray for Death plan by the Talibangelical jackasses.

It isn't enough that their hate and fear program was voted down by the American electorate. It isn't enough that, despite their racism, a black man was voted president.

We won, they lost. They can't accept it.

Now they turn to their Hate Jesus to kill Barack Obama. It isn't necessarily treason to hope for someone to die, but it sure the hell is immoral. They should be stripped of their status as religious leaders and go dig a ditch somewhere.

CoffeeGhost » Alan Turing: Don't Ask, Don't Tell Poster

As the creator of this poster notes, rampant homophobia (and bigotry in general) is far more dangerous to our society than any so-called "terrorist" threat conjured up by the Cheney Hate Brigades.

Honestly, if conservatives hate gays so much, they should stop using the internet, not to mention passwords, considering all the work Turing did in the field.

Colorado Springs cuts into services considered basic by many - The Denver Post

By John on February 9, 2010 2:26 PM | No Comments
More than a third of the streetlights in Colorado Springs will go dark Monday. The police helicopters are for sale on the Internet. The city is dumping firefighting jobs, a vice team, burglary investigators, beat cops -- dozens of police and fire positions will go unfilled.

The parks department removed trash cans last week, replacing them with signs urging users to pack out their own litter.

Neighbors are encouraged to bring their own lawn mowers to local green spaces, because parks workers will mow them only once every two weeks. If that.

Water cutbacks mean most parks will be dead, brown turf by July; the flower and fertilizer budget is zero.

City recreation centers, indoor and outdoor pools, and a handful of museums will close for good March 31 unless they find private funding to stay open. Buses no longer run on evenings and weekends. The city won't pay for any street paving, relying instead on a regional authority that can meet only about 10 percent of the need.

- From a January 31st story on the problems about to come to fruition in Colorado Springs

This is what happens in the Capital of Conservatism when you stop caring for your fellow man and hoard your earnings all to yourself.

The notion of community, of nation, of common purpose and security is gone when it comes to the Talibangelicals. The lights are on at Focus on the Family, but the streets of Colorado Springs are about to get that much more dangerous because of these "me first" pseudo-christians.

Screw 'em. I hope they get what they deserve for poisoning our politics and bringing our nation to it's knees.

Large Portion Of GOP Thinks Obama Is Racist, Socialist, Non-U.S. Citizen: Poll

By John on February 2, 2010 2:17 PM | No Comments

The actual title to this article should be: "Large Portion of GOP Are Inbred Pig Fuckers" or something to that effect.

Actually, I don't blame individual Republicans. Much. I mean, yes, it IS their fault for only listening to Lush Rimjob or Pat Racistson or watching FAUXNews. But the lies being fed to them from conservative Tea Bag wingnut sources are created by people who have enough brain cells to upload a webpage update and run a radio studio or TV camera. So, it's more the merchants of shit than the consumers of treason that are the problem.

Here are the actual poll results. To think these repressive cretins actually believe they embrace the spirit of America. Then again, slavers thought they were Americans once too I suppose.
