Gambling Man

By John on September 30, 2008 9:37 AM | No Comments

I'm not sure why the Talibangelicals are cool with this, but McCain is up to his neck in ties to gaming.

Oh wait. Two things. One, Republicans and hypocrites. Two, gaming regulators and tribes should know that McCain eventually sells EVERYONE out.

The DNC got off it's ass long enough to run an ad on this:

Personally, people like this whole "maverick" thing, but the more I see of it, the more it freaks me out.

Being a maverick means you constantly contradict yourself, lie about it, and then pick some idjut from the ass end of nowhere to basically be president once your cancerous ass dies off sometime next February.

That, and I'm not sure if anyone told Ace this but you don't get to pick your own nickname.

Vote for Change

Register to vote here at the Obama Vote for Change site.

Also, some info on early voting in general.

Thankfully, I'm not the only one

Why Sarah Palin is still a) on the ballot, and b) on a ticket that could actually still win is beyond me.

The good news is that I'm not the only one bewildered and frightened that this talking points spouting idiot is potentially one melanoma spot away from the presidency. Here are a couple voices I respect on the subject.

First, let's hear from Jack Cafferty and don't miss his response to Wolf Blitzer trying to cover for Palin:

Republicans are afraid of Palin and want her to leave the ticket. I'd be laughing at their discomfort if they didn't have a shot at the White House. You deserve what you get trolls. Unfortunately the rest of us might have to suffer too.

Fareed Zakaria weighs in as well.

Meanwhile, more news about Palin's belief that the Earth is only 6000 years old and that our ancestors used to play with dinosaurs. Idiot.

Don't Let This Happen

I'm not sure about your state, but in Nevada you can still register until October 4th. Early voting has already started in some states. Our's starts the 18th I believe. Get registered, vote early. Hound people to go vote.

There's plenty of time to reject hatred and fear, racism and lies. You know what you have to do.

Well, he didn't call him boy, but I imagine it can be done

By John on September 26, 2008 9:40 PM | No Comments

McCain made my baby cry.

McCain made me want to punch my TV screen.

I know the Talibangelicals and bigot crowd love to see an old, cranky, condescending piece of shit come out swinging and telling stories and making stuff up. They want to hear talking points and sound bites over substance and truth.

And yeah, Obama can officially stop treating Gramps so nicely from now on. Fuck that old guy. Destroy him.

What I saw tonight was McCain unwilling to look Obama in the eye. Hell, he didn't acknowledge he was even in the room between handshakes. He rambled on and on, making up little stories, giving a travelogue of every airport bathroom he's ever been in. Larry Craig must have been so proud.

So, here's the question: Did McCain ignore Obama as a dirty campaign tactic that says your opponent is beneath you? Or did he do it because his old ass mind still thinks Obama would be better off picking cotton or cactus or whatever the hell grows at McCain's ten houses?

If it is the former, I have a couple concerns. Does a potential president McCain disregard EVERYONE he thinks he's better than? Does he not even bother to meet, much less look at, other world leaders? I mean, other than the President of China, to whom he'll have to scrape and bow and kiss the ass of to pay for the 95 other years of the Iraq War?

Does it bother you that McCain discredits a guy who won the primary votes of 18 million Americans? What did he get? Maybe 5 million? Less? This is haughtiness at it's best.

This is smugness.

This is an asshole.

Don't vote for this prick.

George Will for Obama?

Not a ringing endorsement for Barack, but a damn fine assessment of McCain's failures.

Random Selections: Catching Up Edition

Been running around trying to keep up with Gabriel, which is silly when you consider he can't even crawl. Crazy stuff folks.

Just a random sampling of what has been going on in my head for ya.

First off, I got a transfer inside the company. Far less, if any, travel and some new stuff to learn. So far, I'm quite happy. Changed bosses but Josh is pretty cool, though Luke was definitely the bomb as far as bosses go.

With the new job comes a damned Blackberry. Personally, I could punt the damn brick down the street and be quite happy with the decision, but oh well. One more leash, that's all.

So pardon me while I laugh my ass off when I heard recently that not only is John McCain a miracle worker, he's also a bleeding edge Canadian technology firm.

"Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committe. So you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

- Douglas Holtz-Eakin, McCain shill

McCain's other minions tried to laugh it off, but McCain has also claimed credit for inventing cell phones and wifi.

Still not voting for you. Can you hear me now?

"It's another reason to be against John McCain. If he invented the BlackBerry, I blame him for having to spend too much time on my BlackBerry and not talking to my wife enough."

- Senator Sherrod Brown, OH

236.com shows up McCain's special Blackberry"

More news you already knew:

Republicans are fear-driven chickenshits...

...and racists, as evidenced by O'Reilly's "angry black woman" attack on Michelle Obama.

Bob Cesca on why the polls are so close. I have supporting links on that which I'll try to post later.

Here's an ad I wish we could see...

And one properly subtitled:

Do you want to feel good about America again?

Or just have more of the same?

Some healthcare plan

By John on September 3, 2008 11:15 AM | No Comments
"So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime. The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American - even illegal aliens - as uninsured. Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.

"So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved."

- John Goodman, President of the National Center for Policy Analysis, aka the assholes who wrote McCain's health care plan

So, we "solve" the uninsured problem by saying they aren't uninsured? That's like when the South "ended slavery" by instituting sharecropping.

I was thinking of this troll and his sad, pathetic candidate McCain when listening to Fresh Air the other day. Terry was talking to a political scientist who was comparing the Obama and McCain health care proposals, and wrote it up in the New England Journal of Medicine (read here if interested).

Basically, other than to mock in the face of poor and, yes, uninsured, I do not see one good reason to back McCain's so-called plan.

Pro-Obama

By John on September 2, 2008 12:37 PM | No Comments

I really hope that the old Luddite doesn't get elected. I really hope this country is smarter than I give it credit for. I seriously have my doubts, but....

I've been pretty much for Obama once I decided that Edwards was going to be too angry and lose sight of winning over pontificating. That was late last year and I'm glad to see that at least the Democratic Party has it's shit together, the racist Clintonite traitors notwithstanding.

So, with all the negativity of your standard GOP attack goon politics aside, I'd like to pass along some positive stories about Obama. Yeah, some of it is fluff, but well-meaning fluff so I'm happy to link you to it.

First off, Jacob Weisberg asks "What will the neighbors think?" if we send McCain to the White House? Will ANY nation ever trust us again? Good things to consider before voting yes on continuing the debacle of the Bush years.

Going back to the beginning, the NY Times did a nice article on Barack's mother back in March that bears a re-read.

Some Obama-inspired (and anti-McCain) humor for you.

The Nope poster, of course, is a parody on the famous Shepard Fairey Obama posters. Another article on the artist and his political work here.

Obama supporters have taken to using the middle name "Hussein" to counter the Clintonite/Republican attacks on Obama as "foreign".

In fact, that's a lot of the Hillary/McCain argument throughout the year. Barack is "too black" or "too exotic" or "too different". Whatever.

Obama excites people. Hell, there's a genre of Caribbean political songs devoted just to him.

Besides, he isn't different. He's the face of the rising minority and mixed race majority of this nation. Too bad the GOP refuses to acknowledge this. Then again, if not for the racists, bigots, hatemongers, and narrow-minded twits in their ranks, they wouldn't have much support, now would they?

You don't get a medal for doing your damn job

By John on September 1, 2008 7:54 AM | No Comments

This is in line with the problem I had last week with everyone falling over themselves to congratulate the Clintons for supporting Barack Obama. Bill & Hillary shouldn't have received accolades for doing what they did: they SHOULD have gotten kicked in the ass for taking too damn long to getting around to it.

Today, same thing. Bush is skipping day one of the KKK/GOP convention to monitor Hurricane Gustav. Why? Because that's what he SHOULD be doing. Also, unlike with Katrina, he has learned to stay the hell out of the way and quit endangering people's lives.

Hey, he's a utter dumbass, but even he can be taught. Sorta. Eventually.

Meanwhile, McCain is taking this opportunity to scale down his convention so that it isn't compared to the Democrat's and found sorely lacking. Unlike Bush, he's bringing his Old Coot and MILF party to Mississippi, probably to tie up a critical highway where folks in ambulances will die waiting for his motorcade to come through.

In case you forgot, when Katrina hit, Bush was nowhere in command of the situation. Instead, he was having birthday cake with McCain:

More pics here and here.

I would give them credit for learning a lesson, but like I said, it's their f'in job to get it right THE FIRST TIME!
