Fine, okay, it's a blog already!

Hidden gems: America's 20 least-visited National Monuments - latimes.com

I am glad to say that I've visited some of these. And it would be cool to visit the rest if at all possible.

On TripAdvisor, Reviews Mixed for Schrute Farms - NYTimes.com

I gotta be honest. The art-imitating-life-passing-as-real-due-to-the-internet thing may have hit a high point with the Shrute Farm B&B listing. This is pretty funny actually.

10 Extraordinary Islands

Not that I've got the cash to go visit these places, but any of these islands looks like a good way to get away from it all.

Ah, dreams.

Drives of a Lifetime

Since I'm prepping for a bit of a road trip soon, I was glad to find this article on great driving routes. Granted, I won't be taking any of these (though I'll be close to a few of them), but still a good article to motivate you to get behind the wheel and see some cool sights.

Oktoberfest Links - Wired How-To Wiki

By John on September 28, 2009 1:43 PM | No Comments

Granted, I don't have the cash to make it to Germany this year - and probably not in the near future either. That said, I enjoyed the bounty of Oktoberfest articles on the How-To Wiki this past week.

First off, an article on Oktoberfest etiquette. There are also other articles on how to navigate and handle yourself in Munich so look them up if you are going. Also one on how to do it on the cheap.

This includes how to dress and speak some relevant phrases in German. Here's a general food lexicon for you too.

For those staying here in the States (or anywhere else for that matter), there are some festivals around the nation, a few listed here. The list seems to keep growing so keep checking because there are plenty not on here that I'm aware of.

Here in Vegas we have the Hofbrauhaus, which we are hoping to get to next weekend. If you're in town, think about making a visit there.

Back to the wiki, there are also very important food and drink articles, such as how to tap a keg.

Other articles involve making beer brats and sauerkraut and, just for kicks, pretzels.

Good stuff! Prost!

Exploring Akihabara, Tokyo's Nerd Mecca | GameLife | Wired.com

I've only been to Japan once, and only was in Tokyo on a layover. That said, someday I would love to have some spending money to take a proper shopping trip in the Akihabara.

Check out this photo essay to see why this is tech heaven.

Tommy J's Crib Is 18th Century Palace of Gadget Geekery | Raw File | Wired.com

I love this cheeky write-up on Monticello. It has been about 18 years since I did the tour there but it was such a fascinating place. I can't wait to drag Gabriel there someday.
